Automotive Exhaust Gas Recirculation System : What It Is And Why You Shouldn't Ignore It

In an automotive engine, the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system serves two main purposes: to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and to provide makeup air for the engine during cold start operation.  The EGR system does this by recirculating a portion of the engine's exhaust gases back into the intake manifold where they are mixed with the incoming air-fuel mixture.  While the EGR system is beneficial in reducing emissions, it can also cause some problems for the engine if not properly maintained. For example, if the EGR system becomes clogged, it can restrict the flow of exhaust gases and result in increased engine temperature and decreased fuel economy.  In extreme cases, it can even lead to engine failure. To avoid these problems, it is important to regularly check and clean your vehicle's EGR system.  In this blog post, we will discuss how to do just that. We will also talk about some of the common symptoms of a clogged EGR system and what you can do to preven
